What to Expect at Your Dog’s First Boarding Stay in Baton Rouge

Leaving your dog overnight for the first time is a big step, for them and for you. Knowing what the stay looks like, from the first phone call to the moment you pick them up, makes it much easier. Here is what to expect when your dog boards with us at Royal Treatment in Baton Rouge.

Step 1: Create your customer profile

Every new client starts by creating a customer profile using the link at the top right of our website. Once your profile is set up, you can request a reservation or call us at 225.663.8223 with questions or for instructions. A profile is required before we can book any service, so it is worth doing a few days before you need us.

Step 2: Make sure your dog is fully vaccinated

For the safety of every guest, we require current vaccinations, given at least 24 hours before your stay:

  • Rabies
  • DHPP
  • Bordetella (an annual shot is accepted)
  • Lepto (unless it is included in your dog’s DHPP)
  • Canine flu is recommended, but not required

Ask your vet to send the records ahead of time so check-in goes smoothly.

What to pack

Bring anything that will make your dog more comfortable. Familiar items from home can be soothing for dogs staying overnight. We also recommend bringing your dog’s own food, because it protects their digestive comfort. House dining is available for an additional charge if you need it.

If your dog takes medication, oral and topical medications are complimentary with written instructions. We do not offer medical boarding or IV care.

Drop-off day

Plan on 5 to 10 minutes for a personalized check-in and care review. We are open 7 AM to 7 PM every day at 190 Lee Dr, Bldg 2, so you can choose a time that fits your schedule. Take that time to tell us about your dog’s routines, quirks and anything that helps them feel at home.

Where your dog stays

Dogs stay in private suites with tempered glass fronts, not bars, so they can rest comfortably and see what is going on around them. Your dog is taken outside for a minimum of four yard outings every day, with extra enrichment options available.
